Weekend Debauchery

"Weekends don't count unless you spend them doing something completely pointless." Bill Watterson

I met a few more bloggers this weekend. Kira and her fiance Alex, Doct, and I (oh, and the one who called me an idiot) met on Saturday and spent the day together. I must say that I got through an entire meal at Umezono using only chopsticks...no heathen fork for me!!! And I tried a California roll (thanks Kira) which I really liked. Hmmm, could raw fish be far behind?

Kira and Alex are wonderful. It was really refreshing to see a couple so in love and so respectful of each other's wants and needs. To borrow Kira's words, it was like spotting a Yeti. I now know that the perfect man does exist...it's just a matter of trapping...I mean finding my own.

Doct is just as witty and clever in person as he is in his blog. We spent a lot of time discussing everything from relationships to quantum physics (ok, the words quantum physics were mentioned and I knew what it was...that counts...it does so!). I found him to be just as insightful and intelligent as I had imagined.

I was a little intimidated about meeting and being expected to intelligently converse with a group of people that all have initials after their names (PhD, M.B.A...well, MBA in training but you get the drift). But I held my own throughout the conversations. *pats self on back*

I did find out that Japanese horror movies are terrifyingly graphic, translation is sometimes a little sketchy and that I like anime about sex-starved school teachers and Irish sitcoms that use the words feck and arse. All-in-all good people, good wine and good food make for a great way to spend a Saturday.

I really enjoyed meeting you too, Angie! And yes, you held up your end of the conversation so well that I ended up spending more time than I thought was possible standing up in the kitchen running my mouth :) Wanna hear something scary? The scene from Suicide Club was a mild one compared to some of the other ones. Now you fully understand my need to drink heavily before watching, right? Glad to hear you liked GTO! Alex and I brought those down because we thought Grant would like them. They get better and better as the series progresses, too (they amuse me a lot).

We definitely have to do this again!

Kira - I admit when you first said you needed mass amounts of alcohol to watch J-horror I thought you were one of those people who just don't like the horror genre but after seeing that scene I certainly understand why. I kept telling myself it wasn't real but it didn't seem to help much. Yes, we must do this again!

SJ - I really wish you would!! Any word on your visa?

I'm so fecking envious. I wish I had been there with you guys. Alas, it was not to be.

Seems the Atlanta contingent of our little world is going long and strong. More power to it.

X - Your name actually came up a few times during the conversation...all good of course! I wish you could have been there. I would have loved being able to meet you in person. Of course...we'd probably still be in the kitchen holding court over all of life's issues!

RG - Yeah...I still dunno about it. Kira gave me the inside scoop on which types of sushi are cooked and which aren't. I think I'll stay with the cooked ones for now.
Brave? Outgoing? Oh, honey if you only knew...it's not my nature. I push myself to do that stuff.

Tammyj - Oh, I'd love that. I go through Lexington when I drive home. Maybe we can arrange something the next time I go up there.

One question - why does your blog say you posted this on Friday, July 28?

Blogger xwy said...

7 - Well, I don't know about cozy...

Memphis Steve - Now how could anyone think YOU would not be interesting to meet? If I ever get to Memphis, I shall look you up. It shouldn't be too hard to find a naked guy sitting on a toilet, right? lol.

SJ - Well, I guess I'll just have to marry you in order to get you over here.

JD - thanks, honey ;) I can think of a million good uses for chopsticks...stirring paint, picking your nose..

Cakes - Ooooo, you lucked out...usually his answers are loaded.

Grant - Because Blogger is a SOB. Half the time my sidebar doesn't show up. What do you expect for free? I did fix it though.

i think it's fairly safe to say that most think i'm off my rocker anyway... ;) doesn't change the fact that i find you sexy. and i'm sure i'm not alone in that assessment. :)

This is your idea of "debauchery?" There must be something you're not sharing with the rest of us. ;-)

Also I noticed you avoided describing me completely. "I enjoyed everyone, except for Grant who is a feckin' ijit." :p

Blogger xwy said...

JD - well, thank you again, sweetie *said in sappy southern accent* I don't think you're off your rocker :)

Rick - A Southern woman never reveals all her secrets ;)

Grant - I figured everyone would grow tired considering they've heard it a million +1 times. Besides, I was going to say something nice then you called me an idiot. I'm on the phone to 7's mom right now.

Sounds like you all had a fabulous weekend. I've never seen a J-horror pic before, but going by what you've said, I don't think I want to lol. And saying that, I will be making it my business to find out what my oldest son's been watching because he loves anything and everything Japanesey. If that's the reason he's been having trouble sleeping at night...he will no longer be watching them come hell or high water!

rant rant rant, sorry *blush*

ok, now I'm ready to hear more about the debauchery parts...bring it on :p

tammyj - Will do. I'll warn you I sing best off key.

Cherry - Watch out boys...the Cherry's gone global again!!!

JD - someday....someday...

X - Well, I've always wanted to visit NYC...maybe some day I'll get there and we can discuss our theories over some wine.

I am SO glad you can't see me right now. Temper tantrums thrown by a Peanut Queen in the middle of her office isn't a very pretty sight. Yet another blogger who's met fellow bloggers!!! Dammit, dammit, dammit!

Ah well...I'm glad you had a good time! ;)
